چکیده

The exopolysaccharide (EPS B3-15) and biosurfactant (BS B3-15), produced by the marine Bacillus licheniformis B3-15, were recently reported to possess different antibiofilm activities, with EPS being more active in preventing adhesion of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Staphylococcus aureus BS destroying their preformed biofilms on surfaces. In this study, synergistic effects two exopolymers bacterial biofilm disruption P. S. evaluated polystyrene, a medical polyvinyl chloride (PVC) device, contact lenses (CLs) order address potential use biomedical applications. To purpose, B3-15 equally combined (1:1 w/w), mixture (BPS was added at concentrations (from 50 300 µg mL−1) times development. Compared each polymer, BPS (300 efficiently reduced polystyrene (65 58%, respectively), PVC devices (62 42%, CLs (39 35%, also combination care solution (88 39%, respectively). Furthermore, able disrupt mature biofilms, acting effectively against (72%) than (6%). low exhibited prevent eradicate biofilms.

Characterization of a new lipopeptide surfactant produced by thermotolerant and halotolerant subsurface Bacillus licheniformis BAS50.

Strain BAS50, isolated from a petroleum reservoir at a depth of 1,500 m and identified as Bacillus licheniformis, grew and produced a lipopeptide surfactant when cultured on a variety of substrates at salinities of up to 13% NaCl. Surfactant production occurred both aerobically and anaerobically and was optimal at 5% NaCl and temperatures between 35 and 45 degrees C. The biosurfactant, termed l...

Antiviral and immunoregulatory effect of a novel exopolysaccharide from a marine thermotolerant Bacillus licheniformis.

EPS-1 is a novel extracellular polysaccharide produced by a strain of thermotolerant Bacillus licheniformis, isolated from a shallow marine hot spring of Vulcano Island (Italy). In this paper, antiviral and immunomodulatory effects of EPS-1 were evaluated. It was found that EPS-1 treatment impaired HSV-2 replication in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) but not in WISH cells. Since...

Characterization of Lipopeptide Biosurfactants Produced by Bacillus licheniformis MB01 from Marine Sediments

Antibiotic resistance has become one of the world's most severe problems because of the overuse of antibiotics. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are more difficult to kill and more expensive to treat. Researchers have been studied on antibiotic alternatives such as antimicrobial peptides and lipopeptides. A functional bacteria MB01 producing lipopeptides which can be used as bacteriostat was isola...

Management of chromium induced oxidative stress by marine Bacillus licheniformis

The present study describes management of oxidative stress induced by heavy metal chromium in marine Bacillus licheniformis (NCBI GenBank Accession NumberHM194725). It is identified that the isolate reduces 10-1500 mg/L of Cr (VI) within 24-72 h. Existence of chromium reductase in growth medium implies the possibility of enzymatic reduction of Cr (VI) to Cr (III). Nevertheless, no correlation w...
